People with intellectual and developmental disabilities live different lives than the general population.
Often prohibited from driving and with a limited income, people with special needs rely on family or support services for the freedoms we take for granted.
Taylor’s Travels was started in 2019 to raise awareness and promote inclusion for persons with special needs in the travel community.
Through her photographs and adventures Taylor wants to encourage others with special needs to travel and try new things. This can be as simple as attending a local event, trying a new food, activity or a trip around the world.
Adventure to me is trying something new and exploring different places. The motto I live by is to try everything at least once and I continually push myself to do just that on our travels.
Off roading, camping, white-water rafting, ziplining, caving, sand boarding, swimming with dolphins, deep sea fishing or clamming in the fridged waters of the Atlantic Ocean - bring it on!
Children and adults with special needs love to travel as much as everyone else. For some of us that means taking a little longer or doing things a little differently than others.
People with special needs should have the same opportunities to participate in every aspect of life to the best of their abilities and desires.
All of us learn in different ways. For people with intellectual and developmental disabilities travel is an amazing teacher.
We have been blessed to meet so many wonderful people over the years who have helped out and supported my desire to learn new skills.
"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page." Saint Augustine
